EU-LAC WG RI 2nd Policy workshop: Transnational access to Research Infrastructures
On the 7th May, 2019, took place in Brazilia the 2nd Policy Workshop organised by the EU-Latin America and Caribbean Working Group on Research Infrastructures (WG RI), with the title "Transnational access to Research Infrastructures".
The workhsop was organised back-to-back to the 3rd WG RI meeting, and was opened to RI experts from both regions. The workshop counted with 23 participants in total, 7 from EU countries and 15 participants from LAC countries.
Some of the objectives of the workshop were to foster common understanding on parameters that constitute access policies; understand what mechanisms for providing access to RIs are in place in LAC and EU, their potential and how access access modes be improved for (intensified) collaboration and finally, exchange views and experiences with learning tools that can facilitate international collaboration.
The complete conclusions and the table discussions results of the are available here, and specially remarkable are the following:
Participants expressed the need to prioritise thematic areas based on common interest and to start coordinating links and opportunities for bi-regional RI collaboration within these fields of study.
It was mentioned and recognised the usefulness of the European Charter for Access to Research Infrastructures,as a reference document;
Selection criteria for RI access have to be ensured to allow excellence.
